Réalisateur, acteur et producteur hongkongais, Raymond Lee est surtout spécialisé dans le polar avec portée sociale. Il est notamment l’auteur de Rebel from China (1990), avant de faire partie intégrante de l’équipe de Tsui Hark à la Film Workshop.
Il participe notamment à la réalisation du premier Swordsman (1990), mais aussi à celle de Swordsman 3 (1993). On doit à Raymond Lee un remake de Dragon Gate Inn intitulé L’auberge du dragon (1992).
Il signe encore le film culte Police Confidential (1995) et décide de se tourner vers la télévision à partir de 1996.
